About the Webinar

As social activists, we have an obligation to disseminate our ideas and efforts to as broad an audience as possible. This webinar will focus on specific strategies for working with the media to get them interested in your work and to ensure that your work is accurately portrayed.

There will be three pieces to the webinar:

  • What is the purpose of connecting with media outlets?
  • What types of outlets are available to you (local, national, global) and how can you connect with them?
  • What are the logistics involved in working with media outlets (you rights, how to prepare, and what to expect)? 

About the Presenter

Tiziana Dearing headshotTiziana Dearing is a Professor at the Boston College School of Social Work, and a national voice on social impact, social justice, inequality and poverty.  At Boston College, Tiziana teaches in social innovation and leadership.  She is a founding co-director of Research in Social, Economic and Environmental Equity. She was the start-up Chief Executive Officer of Boston Rising, a fund to end the generational cycle of poverty in Boston.  Prior to leading Boston Rising, Tiziana served as the first woman President of Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Boston.

Tiziana is an experienced speaker, writer and news analyst and has published and provided commentary for media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, The Hill, WBUR/NPR radio, NECN, The Boston Globe, BBC Radio, and The Philanthropy News Digest.
